I’ve been fascinated with birds for years. I find myself always looking up and watching birds circle, glide, and dive. They have a freedom that I’m jealous of. Their eyes are always searching and observing. They can move across vast land and still find their way home. I find a delicacy and strength within these beautiful creatures. Birds remind me how miniscule human existence really is.

I have been making woodcuts and etchings of birds for a handful of years now and can't seem to shake my attraction to them. I create birds existing in an empty negative space to bring attention to them without the distraction of an environment and preventing them from blending into their surrounding.
