Artists:
Amy Haney: Haney, an instructor of art at UNO, is fascinated and envious of birds as she looks up to find inspiration to create etching and woodcut prints of a variety of birds in flight and on the ground. Haney has a bachelor and two master degrees.
Al Harris-Fernandez: Objects and structures that can be read multiple ways intrigues Harris-Fernandez, Director of the Sioux City Art Center. He isolates the image in the center of the picture plane allowing it to be read as an icon or target. In the series “Structure” the makeup of the lines and image seem to morph back and forth from one possible shape to another.
Robert Therien: Therien is a retired Professor of Art, Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Nebraska that works with watercolor and oil paintings to depict his interest in nature’s flora and fauna. He prefers using fragments and cropping to give the viewer a partial image, enhancing the picture plane with contrasting colors.
Shea Wilkinson: Wilkinson, a Nebraska native, uses free motion quilting to create images from nature, myths, indigenous tales, and extraterrestrial worlds. As a great honor to her fiber artworks three of her pieces were included in the recent Joslyn Art Museum show Art Seen.
