Join us for the opening reception of Steve Joy: Icons Abbeys Elizabethans: Paper Works on Friday, June 3, 5:00 - 9:00 pm at Gallery 72, 1806 Vinton Street. During the opening, Steve Joy will have a gallery talk at 7:00 pm.
Steve Joy's approach to his paintings is through meditation and spiritual existentialist. Joy, born in England is a wanderlust at heart and has been traveling around the world since joining the Royal Air Force in 1968. He has lived through out the world including England, the Middle East, Spain, Norway, Italy, France, Japan, and New York.
His time in Europe, Joy spent living in abbeys, monasteries and castles; making them his homes and studios. He actively collects visual imagery from their structures, patterns and designs while seeking to find spirituality. Joy's influences are reflected in his used of rich colors and process of application in creating his paper works. Icons Abbeys Elizabethans: Paper Works show is predominantly Joy's record of his travels throughout Europe.
